Republic FC Signs Rising Talent Aaron Edwards
Republic FC has signed 22-year-old Aaron Edwards ahead of the 2025 season, pending league and federation approval.
“Aaron has been a standout player in his first two seasons, and we are confident he will add quality to our right side and to our overall group,” said Republic FC President and General Manager Todd Dunivant.
A San Jose, California native, Edwards developed in the San Jose Earthquakes academy, where he scored five goals in 17 matches (2019-20). His performances earned him a No. 2 ranking in Top Drawer Soccer’s Northern California prospects list before moving on to UCLA. With the Bruins, he made 39 appearances, tallying two goals and five assists, while earning Pac-12 Player of the Week, College Soccer News National Player of the Week, and Pac-12 All-Conference honors in 2021.
In 2023, Edwards signed his first pro contract with The Town FC (MLS NEXT Pro), recording three assists in 18 matches while helping the club reach the Quarterfinals. He broke out in 2024, leading The Town with seven goals and a team-best four assists (11 total scoring contributions). On August 18, he scored his first career brace, including a goal just 30 seconds into the match, and was later voted Team MVP.
With pace, attacking versatility, and proven production, Edwards strengthens Republic FC’s right side heading into the 2025 USL Championship season.
